The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as dirt detector) are a plus.

Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models will also empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have motors that are top-of-the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. As with other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they utilize smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors They are also adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to offer better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums with mop vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or at night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and drys the mop pads.

The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a robot vacuums best that comes with spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It has an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums uk vacuums that we've test. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
