The Roborock Q7 Max offers strong pressure and smart robot mapping with apps-based no-go zones, and its 180-minute runtime is impressive. It also self-empties and refills its water tank.
1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.
The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most advanced robot vacuum to date. Its most notable innovation, however, is its camera-based obstacle-detection technology. This uses AI to detect objects such as charging cables and shoes. It's also the first to automatically send you a photo of an object it encounters so you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.
The Combo j7+ is also the most effective mop-bot we've ever tested, picking up spills and dirt effortlessly and leaving no trace that it was there. It's easy to control through the iRobot Home app which allows you to schedule cleaning and create Keep Out Zones to ensure it doesn't sweep areas you don't want it to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it by voice.
The design is also more appealing than the competition. It features a sleek, high-end piece that looks like an toy, not a loud and obnoxious robot. And the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal System is self-emptying, which is great to reduce the time spent cleaning.
In our tests the j7+ performed quick to clean up dust dirt, pet hair and even pet hair. The counter-rotating rubber brushes kept the debris in one place rather than sending it scattering across the floor. It even was able to take small gravel and sand that other robots can't. And all of this without getting caught in our pet's shedding hair.
Although it's not as efficient as the $1,217 Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, and it's not able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still a solid option for those who need a vac and a mop in their home. It's not too expensive, and the IRobot app makes it user-friendly.
Although the iRobot Home app is very easy to use however, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and often it's hard to determine whether the update actually functioning until you've seen it in action.
2. Roborock Q5+
If you're looking to purchase a robot vacuum that does more than just clean floors, the most effective option is likely to be hybrid. This type of robot cleaner typically has a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your house simultaneously. These bots also have various additional features like smart mapping, small object avoidance, and the ability to wash and re-dry mopping pads. The downside is that they tend to be expensive when purchased at full retail, but on Black Friday and Cyber Monday they often drop in price.
Roborock makes some of our favorite robotic vacuums and the Q5+ doesn't fail to impress. It's the cheapest model of their auto-empty line. Although it might not include some of the luxurious features (like no-go areas and multi-story memories) however, it's an excellent option for those who are willing to make some compromises to save a few bucks.
The Q5+ is exceptionally gentle when it comes to obstacles such as walls and table legs. This makes it a great option for homes with many furniture pieces. It's also extremely thorough in cleaning up dust bunnies, which is an area where cheaper robot vacuums often fall short. The Q5+'s navigation system is superb, with only a few mishaps along walls or in corners.
Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled by a handful of buttons on the device itself or through the Roborock app. The app lets you start and stop cleaning or schedules, establish virtual barriers and no-go zones, and modify your home map, or re-label rooms.
If you select the Q5+ it includes a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make the robot easier to maintain. Installing it requires a screwdriver, but once it's installed emptying the bin is done easily. It also has a large LCD display that is great to have when creating schedules or changing settings. This feature isn't essential for the majority of people, but it can help effectively keep track of the robot's maintenance schedules.
3. Narwal Freo X Ultra
The Freo X Ultra is a well-rounded robot mop and vacuum that's incredibly smart in both its mopping and vacuuming capabilities. Its design is among the best cheap robot vacuum self cleaning vacuum (website link) in the industry however it's quite expensive.
The base station looks nice and hides it when not in use, and the dimensions are quite small. The station's main selling point is the fact that it automates a variety of tasks, functions and chores that other robots have to leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, electrolyzes and heats the water (which the majority of other robots require you to do) and empty the dust bin after vacuuming, and keeps your robot charged and clean.
Its vacuuming performance is also impressive. It's the only robovac I've tried that does an excellent job of removing dirt from floors that aren't. And it's not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.
However, the Freo X Ultra has its flaws, particularly in terms of navigation. Its LiDAR sensors and laser sensors aren’t as reliable as other robovacs. This means that it could get stuck or confused in certain corners or rooms in the house. It's not able to climb stairs as well as some competitors, for instance and it doesn't have an dock that allows you to create a dedicated cleaning zone for carpets with plush padding.
While it doesn't offer as much in the way of room cleaning robot configuration options in its app or as many in-app shortcuts like other robovacs the Freo X Ultra is still a top choice for those looking for an all-around great robot vacuum and mop that's worth the price price.
If you're looking to save money or aren't concerned about the limitations of the robot, there are plenty of other options on the market. Many eufy models cost considerably less. The eufy Qrevo curv, for instance is a bit more expensive however it comes with more features, such as the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, which provides an improved overall experience when vacuuming on bare floors carpets, low-pile carpets and even high-pile carpets.
4. Eufy RoboVac g30
Eufy is an Anker company that has a history of producing robot vacuums that have the right combination of performance, features, and price. The G30 Hybrid offers a powerful cleaning robot price of carpets and hard flooring, and a mopping function for a low cost. It's easy to set up, simply connect one of the side brushes, turn it on and connect the charging dock. The app will guide you through the steps required to connect your G30 to your Wi-Fi. The dock must be placed close to an outlet that has enough space to move.
The G30 is a compact device, measuring 2.85 inches in height, so it will fit under most couches and pieces of low-clearance furniture. Its design is less ostentatious than some rival models, with sleek black finish and three physical buttons such as Auto Cleaning start/pause, Recharge and Spot Clean (which scrubs an area in spiral patterns for 2 minutes). It is also possible to connect the G30 to Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform routine cleaning tasks that are not scheduled.
The way the G30 cleans is what differentiates it from its competitors. It makes use of an integrated map to draw an image of the unmovable items in its path. It keeps track of the items it has cleaned and where it cannot access. It automatically returns to the base to recharge and continues cleaning where it left off.
The sleek G30 has a few issues. The iRobot Roomba is better built and has lower cost of operation. It charges faster, offers the same battery life and is more effective on bare floors or low-pile carpet. It also has a bigger dust bin that doesn't have to be emptied as often and comes with a set of boundaries that restrict it from certain areas. The G30 is, however is more affordable and is much simpler to maintain. Its smaller container means it doesn't have to be emptied as frequently and has less difficulty handling bulky products such as cereal.
