1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuum uk vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good deal for those whose home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet, which helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuums uk vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It's one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's loud, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys the mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum with mop makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.
If you own a larger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Finally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that thoroughly cleans a particular area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
