The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and will leave your floors spotless. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.
Examine your robot vacuum cleaner reviews's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to create precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the Best robot vacuum cleaner UK robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it will learn the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and a little more cost this is a capable two-in-one that should satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum mop cleaner robot works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a larger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a reciprocating movement which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. It also has the ability to set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
