The STR has been fighting to eliminate the content on evolution from textbooks, including the discovery that the feathered Archaeopteryx was an ancestor bird. But this is merely one aspect of the evolution of the development paradigm.
What is Evolution?
The theory of evolution is a scientific one that explains the change in the genetic characteristics of living organisms over time. The theory is based on the fact that living things adapt to their environment which can result in changes in genes or even complete genomes. Over many generations these changes could result in the creation of new species. While these are disturbing developments, it is important to keep in mind that the evidence for evolution is overwhelming. The evidence for evolution comes from a variety of sources, including fossils, genetics and the behavior of living creatures. The evidence is also independently verified by other scientists.
The vast majority of scientists agree with the theory of evolution. This belief is based on many different reasons. Some scientists study evolution to make practical discoveries that can lead to the development of new medicines and other treatments, while others are driven by the desire to improve the lives of animals and plant species, generally for the benefit of humans. What is Creationism?
Creationists believe that God created all things in the universe. They also believe the Bible is God's word and should be believed to be true. Many creationists are Christians however, not all. Creationists typically fall into one of two categories: Young Earth creationists (YEC) and old earth creationists (OEC).
The most common type of creationist is the YEC. They believe that God created the universe in the exact way that is described in the Bible. They believe that the biblical account of the six days of creation is literal and that the universe and life on Earth was created only recently.
OECs may be less popular however their beliefs are as intense like those of YECs. OECs believe the universe and Earth are billions of years old, and that evolution is a myth.
Both types of creationism reject the idea that scientific principles like natural selection and biogenesis can explain how life began on Earth. They claim that evolution is not possible because it requires miracles. The pioneers of modern scientific thought shunned miracles because they feared they could lose their credibility.
Some creationists accept naturalistic evolutionary and special creation, and refer to their belief as "theistic evolution." This is also referred to as "continuous evolutionism" or the "evolution of the created species." In this theory, God creates the original species and allows them to change over time. These evolutionary changes eventually will result in new species that are similar to the original.
Other creationists hold that God created the universe and all living things in a single event, called the Great Flood. These creationists hold that all the species of the beginning were created at the same time and then slowly evolved. They reject the concept of abiogenesis and claim that self-replicating living cannot come from nonliving matter.

STR claims that it has the support of around 4,000 families and individuals. Its mission, it states is to clear the world of what it calls "atheist materialism" which paints an unflattering image for students. It also aims to counteract the influence of American creationists who live in the US. A survey of the newest biology teachers found that about half do not believe in the concept of evolution. The reasons aren't evident, but they could be due to religious beliefs or the lack of creation scientists in the country.
The KACR has achieved a lot through its seminars and lectures in the past. It also publishes a bimonthly magazine called Creation and an ebook. Among these is a textbook on the natural sciences that has an evolutionary perspective that has sparked interest among college students. In 1991, a professor, together with a minister began teaching Creation Science at one university. It is still taught in the present.
On August 7 and 8, 1993, coinciding with the World Expo opened in Daejeon, KACR held a second International Symposium on Creation Research. Six lecturers from outside the country, including ICR's John Morris and Steven Austin presented to a crowd of more than a thousand. KACR and its members have been giving lectures on creation science in major seminaries, too. KACR is planning to create a Creation Science Education Center.
