However, unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities and therefore it could get stuck on things such as socks or power cords and it can have difficulty in navigating through transitions between surfaces like from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It is also recommended to keep the filters and dust bin clean to prevent them from becoming clogged. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin, and then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating and the most important feature of all -- it comes with an auto-emptying dustbin, which eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, a system that allows it to create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or through the app.

The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though it self-empties its dust bin which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and reduces recurring costs.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the best robot vacuum for the money to start, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. Once connected, we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." In our testing of the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) quite well, cleaning up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well with higher-up objects like cords or socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than other models we've tested and this could be a deterrent for some shoppers.

The app also makes it easy to manually steer the robot if needed. My living room rug for example has a dark-colored border which could cause a problem for other robots.
