Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance.
