The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover (click web page) can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it leaves your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which prevent them from being our top option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance automatic vacuum and mop robot and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot automatic vacuum cleaner/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and drys mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty those areas tend to be.

For bigger homes, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
