The Best Robot Hoover

Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and effective at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it will learn your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can alter its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete an entire home, and it did so with only 66 percent of its battery left. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and drys mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to resume where it left off could be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute little eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that mop vacuums that we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
