Why We Love Robot Vac And You Should Also
Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum is able to keep the floors clean enough to cut down on the frequency you have to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners, and has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.
There are models that mop and charge themselves this is an option that is essential for families with children or pets. A lot of the top rated robot vacuum (Hulkshare`s recent blog post) performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.
1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling the i3 EVO, are identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ comes with self-emptying features. The i3+ is a good option for those looking for a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but are willing to manually empty the dust bin once it gets full.
Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on floors and carpets and can maneuver around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart map of your home to aid the i3+ in its navigation and clean efficiently. The i3+ isn't able to have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It can get stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clear areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, including clearing out any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its dirt into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for about an hour and a half of continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.
2. IRobot Roomba i7+
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and -- the most important feature of all -- it has self vacuum near me-emptying bins that eliminate one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces the cost of maintenance.
We were also amazed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum a specific space. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected, to speak commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum in many households and can fit in well next to a coffee table or on the bookshelf, where you can move it around like an enchanted tool.
The V10 is powered with a 7-cell energy-dense Lithium-ion battery, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It comes with three suction modes to meet the task being performed. It quickly converts from floor vac to handheld vacuum, and then back to floor.
This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours and offers easy access to two attachments as well as a wand clip. This is a major improvement over previous Dysons which require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. The claims of its marketing that it can last up to 60 minutes of run time are misleading, as CR's testing shows. This is a common battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's enough time to sweep the typical home, but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more mobile than previous Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeably superior on low-pile floor carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of the most well-known robot vacuums the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent option for those who don't want to spend too much on a robotic. It's capable of sucking up all debris types and sizes during our testing, and it frequently goes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the edges of walls, which is a nice touch.
Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models like our top choices and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and is often unable to supply power before returning to its original location.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 in that it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and can better move its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, because it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually, comes with physical boundary strips, and is controlled by your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and works better on bare floors and carpets with low pile, while providing a greater variety of automation features.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a name is seen on a variety of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're also one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app provides plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers mopping water levels, behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is easy to use and understand as are other Samsung devices.
In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86% of it. However, it wasn't particularly well with larger objects, like cords and socks which was disappointing. It's also more expensive than the other models we've tested and this could be a deal breaker for some buyers.
The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot hoover's cleaning area. This feature lets you check in on your children or pets when you're away. The filter and the dustbin can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic clean station which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and improves suction power.
6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum
In contrast to other robotic vacuums that are specifically designed for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have a wider cleaning path and an extra-large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than competitors to keep the area free of debris for the longest period of time. In addition, they have two side sweepers to clean along edges and in corners. The POWERSERIES model includes AutoSense that automatically adjusts the power level based on whether it is collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. The vacuum also comes with an app that allows users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and schedules. Additionally, you can track the vacuum's battery status and return it to its dock to charge at the touch of a button. The app also lets you to personalize the lights on top of the vacuum by using different colors so you can easily identify what areas it's focusing on or where it's gotten stuck.
The app allows you to manually steer the robot, if necessary. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that tends to trip up some of the other robots I've tried. The HRV 425BL however continued to travel across the border, without notifying the high point. The ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving benefit.
