The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or other top-best rated robot vacuum robots that we test. It could get stuck on power cords or socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.

iRobot suggests cleaning the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other items it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dustbin and filter clean so they do not become blocked by dirt. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or the battery is depleted it goes back to its docking station and automatically emptying its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery lasts for approximately an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to recharge.

In our testing the i7+ was faster and more maneuverable than our top choice and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. Its greatest advantage over the Eufy is the self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services, which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room, and even vacuum the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. Once connected to these services, we were able communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world filled with vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an old-fashioned sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households and can fit perfectly next to the coffee table or the bookshelf, that you can spin around like a magic device.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. It's not equipped with the capabilities for mapping of more advanced models, like our top picks, the i3+EVO and J7+ Series. It may get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.

It's also more durable, has a stronger motor, and is more effective on floors with low pile and bare.
