The 10 Scariest Things About Robots That Vacuum And Mop
Robots That Vacuum and Mop
Robots that vacuum and clean offer the convenience of cleaning both dry and wet messes in one session, without having to switch devices. They can also help save storage space compared to having two separate units, particularly in smaller living spaces.
A good combination bot will provide excellent navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that automatically empty their bins and refill their water tank, and machine-wash their mopping pads with an appropriate dock.
1. Eufy S1 Pro
It has plenty to offer for its relatively affordable price and is among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking is simple, and the quick-start guide gets you running in no time. It comes with a full dust bag, water tank, and hard floor solution.
The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can vacuum and mop well. Its mops spin at high speeds and can apply 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, allowing for quick removal of dirt, pet hair, and dried sticky spills. The best automatic vacuum cleaner has four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the kind of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.
You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors and smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models can't. Its only issue is that the robot tends to crash into objects and walls at full speed. However looking at the history of cleaning on the app will tell you exactly what the robot accomplished, where it's moving, and what obstacles it has encountered or avoided.
The docking station has a handy LCD screen that shows the need for maintenance like emptying the debris and cleaning the dirty water tank. It is also able to mix detergent into the water tank automatically with a 600ml of eufy solution.
Both the S1 Pro vacuum and mop come with plenty of running time and the mop is capable of operating for up to 184 minutes in quiet mode and the vacuum capable of running for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or return to the base to refill. The app is easy to use and intuitive and lets you look at every aspect of the cleaning.
2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra
The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot mop and vacuum, is the most recent version. The model of this year features an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has enhanced suction power, which allows it to pull up small hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could miss.
The Roborock model, just like the other two models I tested it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology to help it overcome obstacles like walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes dual cameras that can detect objects, and determine if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can alter its direction automatically and clean the objects, without missing a step.
It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested, but it also has the most features. Its sleek and angular design is attractive and it only has three physical buttons that include the power button which also resumes cleaning; a mop-only switch that doubles as a child lock and a home button to send the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin as well as a 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.
The only downside I've found with this model is that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can replace the mopping cloth (if needed) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount for manual washing. I've observed that any soft carpet that the robot vacuums with mop touches will be in contact with the Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause abrasions.
The S8 Pro Ultra has a variety of smart features that include support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can manage and set up these via the Roborock app that is also home to its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app lets you schedule cleanings and monitor the battery's lifespan. You'll have to go through a few steps to enable voice control on this model. It's a shame considering the performance otherwise.
