Robot vacuums and mop are getting more powerful. They have passed our tests for cleaning, and can take care of various flooring. Look for models that let you choose from multiple modes, use their charging dock to self-empty and clean stairs.
Many of the top models are compatible with smartphones. Find an app that lets you save maps, set schedules, and choose cleaning modes.
1. Eufy Omni S1 Pro
Eufy's gunmetal-and gloss black Omni S1 Pro is one of the most impressive robot vacuums and mop combos available on the market. It makes use of lidar to navigate, create maps of rooms and floors (even multiple levels) and integrates with the free Eufy Clean application that lets you set up schedules and modify the S1's behavior.
When I tried the S1, it was able to locate our downstairs, which is home to laminate flooring in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms, plus medium-pile carpeting and a large area rug. It was able to drive close to walls and even across raised thresholds without issue. However it had some issues getting down the stairs in one go. The S1 also did an excellent job cleaning hard floors, with its mop driving effortlessly on its flat side against the floor, and then lifting itself when it was near carpet or carpet.
Prior to each mopping session the docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its dust bin and refills its water tank with clean ozonated filtered water. The dock also provides a deep-cleaning solution for the water. The S1's water tank holds enough for about 12 cleaning sessions before needing to be cleaned, although it will differ based on how much you use the mop.
The S1 requires regular maintenance, just like any other 2-in-1 robots. You'll need to periodically rinse out the tank that has been contaminated to avoid it becoming blocked. Also, you'll need to clean your sensors and swivel wheel regularly to avoid them getting blocked by dirt or dust. Overall, the S1 is easy to maintain, especially when compared to other combos which require more effort to maintain.
2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete
This all-in-1 robot vacuum and mop combo from Ecovacs is a powerful option to meet your cleaning requirements. Its robot vacuum has 8,700Pa suction power and comes with a number unique features, including voice control and smart path planning that cleans furniture and eliminates obstacles. The mopping capabilities of the robot are remarkable, with mops rotating that actually lift and scrub the floor, rather than simply drag the pad across it. The mops are cleaned and dried in the base station as required.
This robot has an easy-to-use interface that guides you throughout the process. It also comes with a hand-vacuum which can be used to clean hard-to reach areas that the robot can't reach. There are two water tanks which are automatically emptied or filled. It has a variety of useful settings to fine-tune your cleaning preferences.
The Deebot X2 Combo Complete does a good job at vacuuming, with strong suction that effortlessly picks up most debris and even the smaller bits of dust that other robots struggle with. Its navigation abilities are also pretty good, although it can be stuck on small mats and rugs around my home (which you can reduce by defining virtual boundaries in the app). The mopping capabilities are quite excellent, too, with a pair of spinning mops that actually lift and scrub floors, as opposed to simply dragging the pad across it. The mops can be cleaned using heated water and dried in the basestation as needed. Mops can also be filled at the top of the station if required.
3. Dreame X40 Ultra
Dreame's X30 Ultra robot vacuum and mop was launched earlier this year. But their latest flagship model is packed with impressive features. It has fantastic cleaning results and is simple to maintain. This makes it a top contender on our list of the best mops and robot vacuums. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition, and an extended side brush ensure an efficient, customized clean.
The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming, removing large and fine particles from hard floors as well as carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest places of our tests efficiently, avoiding pet hairs and other mess. The sweeping performance of the machine is enhanced by a sidebrush that swings out in order to reach hard-to-reach areas, and mop pads that extend across baseboards.
Its navigation system is intelligent, navigating tight spaces and negotiating stairs without missing a beat. It is able to move from one room to the next without needing to reverse the direction. This is useful for homes that have multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance system is less advanced than some competitors, however, and tends to leave a thick distance over obstacles, which can result in missed spots.
Its app has a streamlined and intuitive interface that will be easy to use for both new and experienced users. The app lets you schedule and manage cleanings, change suction power and mopping settings and view 3D and 2D maps, and much more. It can be controlled via the app, Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also remotely control the X40 Ultra camera for real-time monitoring. But, you'll require a stable Wi-Fi connection to operate it through the app and external controls.
4. Roomba Q5 Pro
A robot mop vacuum does an excellent job of removing dirt and debris, but it can't always get every last particle of dust. This is why it's important to make use of your regular vacuum once every week, particularly to pick up dust in corners, on shelves, and in the corners of your couch. Roborock's Q5 Pro is a 2-in-1 vacuum and mop robot designed to accomplish exactly that. It's easy to connect it to your home Wi-Fi network, and is compatible with Alexa and Apple Siri, making it an even more convenient addition to your routine of cleaning.
The Q5 is a stripped down version of the more expensive models in the S-series from the company, including the flagship Roborock S8 maxV ultra. It is equipped with the same LIDAR mapping sensors, but it is cheaper because it does not have mopping capabilities and has a plastic body.
The Q5 is still one of the most powerful vacuums and mopping machines we've seen in this price range, despite not being able to clean your floors. It features a powerful suction of 5500Pa and an automatic emptying system, so you don't have to empty the bin manually every time. It comes with a smart application which allows you to schedule cleaning and determine the floor type. It also has an automatic water tank filling and washing system to allow hands-free operation.
Its mops are also impressive with their 2700Pa power that can tackle dirt and pet hair on carpets as well as hard flooring. The Q5 is one of the few robots we tested that didn't have any trouble with high-pile carpets and area rug, but it was unable to pick up cat litter or cable tangles that's not a surprise since it does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance.
5. K10 Plus
K10 Plus is the quietest robovac we have ever tested. It also features a unique mapping system that allows it to reach corners and tight places that other vacuums are unable to. This device also collects dust in a larger dustbin which means you have to empty it less often. It also has washable filters, which reduces the cost. The robot can also recognize carpets and increase suction if needed. You can also mark areas you want to be able to keep from using the app.
