The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line functions (such as dirt detector) are positives.

Make sure you regularly examine the brushes of your robot for tangled hair as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with top-of-the-line motors which can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top choice), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost that boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also extremely quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide better cleaning robot mop and vacuum. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically fills up its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models this mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features, like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum cleaner that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or automatic vacuum cleaner that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaner we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and look better. If you're willing with a little more noise and some extra cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection but this was not reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home depending on the degree of dirt they are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home via the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It does a stellar job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using one pad and a reciprocating motion that cleans better that most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot cleaner vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
