Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum will keep your floors tidy enough to reduce the frequency of hoovering manually. Look for one that offers an easy navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that needs emptying only every few times.
There are models that can mop and charge themselves, which is a feature essential for families with pets or children. The top performers in our tests have great obstacle avoidance.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its i3 EVO sibling, the i3 EVO, are identical robots that differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a great option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.
Both robots are proficient at picking up surface dirt on floors and carpets and are able to navigate around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ and other top-rated robots we test the i3+ does not have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may be stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty navigating across surface transitions like hardwood to carpet.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area around the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it might encounter. You should also keep the dustbin and filters clear to avoid getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station and automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it left off. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes about three hours to recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and comes with the latest technology. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the primary sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and direct your best cheap robot vacuum by voice or via the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from any surface including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot on how to begin or stop cleaning sessions and also to move around the room and vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. When connected we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands like "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
In a world of cordless vacs that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model is an old-fashioned sports car. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households, but it also fits nicely on a coffee table or on a bookshelf where you can wave it around like the magic tool.
The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles to penetrate into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It swiftly switches from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to automatic floor cleaner.
This model comes with an attached dock that charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives an easy access to two attachments and an wand. This is a major improvement over older Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests show, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is enough time to vacuum a typical-sized home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second run usually works). This model has its own advantages, however: it's lighter and more maneuverable than older Dysons cordless models, and its vacuuming ability is noticeable superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's an excellent choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our tests, and frequently went over the same area many times to give an efficient clean. Its flat front side helps to get into corners and along the walls' edges which is a nice feature.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capability of more sophisticated models like our top rated robot vacuum picks and the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, is outfitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and has more advanced automation capabilities and can better navigate itself. It also has a bigger dustbin, and charges more quickly.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries strips and can be controlled using your smartphone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built, has a more powerful motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and carpets with a low pile, as well as providing a wider array of automation features.

This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than some of the other models we tried, which might be a problem for some shoppers.
