Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with an impressive suction system and self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste and it learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units, this mop and robot vacuum cleaners best vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot vacuums that mop that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it is worth selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot mop which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana.
