World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to an item are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase the rarity of an item or mark Level and boost additional stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increases as it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the leveled up advantages (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades can be costly, depending on the person you hire and what you decide to do. This is due to the number of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item.

Item level is a popular measure of power, and can be found on all tooltips of items. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found in the character sheet.

Utilizing the level of an item can help players evaluate the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's a measure of the damage and quality. Comparing items from the inventory of a seller can be done by using the item level.

The level of the item can be seen by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the item's full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are a few theories about how the calculation of an item's level is made. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated using a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats really are. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different values and that gems in sockets increase the overall value of the item. This could result in an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzard's actual item upgrading level.

This isn't the only factor that affects the ilvl of an item. The degree of the area in which the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example, it could add a level to the item's haste or crit score. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Stats on an item are a significant element in what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in various ways to encourage players to play with multiple weapons, and to prevent one weapon from being "the best." The stat modifications of weapons boost base stats. These stat mods are then boosted by a player's skill.

Upgrades to the item add by boosting certain stats on the item. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded once, while an item that has rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times with higher costs.

Another method of altering the stats on an item is to use affixes. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item upgrader by the player and come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Affixes are used to provide items with extra damage, special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to differentiate them by naming them.

All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window, and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items, which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as the other options for rerolling.

Players can upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll the affixes. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within the range, unless they are a unique item or a God Roll from a raid boss.

Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the attachments, or pick which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, it must be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the odds of item discoveries, the properties spawned on loot drops, and the intensity of the properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment earlier in the game, and is therefore more valuable in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.

Luck can also boost the likelihood of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can spawn or be crafted with the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be upgraded with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the item's material type) to grant an additional +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of the item up to 140.

Additionally some items, like the Hollow infused weapon can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5percent. These items can be bought from the shop or crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Item upgrades are costly and not all upgrades will succeed. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it fails.

When you upgrade item an item the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage indicates the probability of successfully upgrading the item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.

The success of an item can be affected by the Luck of that item. Each item has a success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

Note that upgrades to items are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
