A Brief History History Of Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The item upgrading Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades are not as valuable for those with higher variance due to the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item but they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items which can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which displays an image of the item level Upgrade at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the Best item upgrader and the current level of the item and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades must be acquired through several methods which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After the player has upgraded to a certain level of item level upgrade for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced too, but it is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated can require as much as 20 crests, based on the type of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities or taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an item upgrader kit upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change is intended to allow players to upgrade their gear up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.
Another important modification is that crests have one purpose therefore it's essential to make use of them in a responsible manner. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan to make. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with high-quality gear.
