The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good robot vacuum value particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best automatic vacuum robotic hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robotic hoovers vacuum/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competitors' boxes This mop and robot vacuum reviews vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, offering a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you instruct the robot on which part of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture.
