The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're in need of it mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and spot obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. The app also grants access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
