The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are great features.

Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles and clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. They also have carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to getting hung up on shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work, or going to school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop bin for emptying. It's the most efficient robotic hoovers hoover for carpets, however it's not as good as other hoovers in terms of deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones with the well-designed app. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm can be utilized to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a good cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy units of the competition. It's one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a combination high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in the mornings prior to work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. If you're willing some more volume and some additional cost this is a capable two-in-one that should please almost everyone.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, as well as washes and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection however, it wasn't foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to organize an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. And you can create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tried. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
