Path of Exile Item Upgrades

Item upgrades are a common and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can provide extra damage, AD or even affixes.

In most cases, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a type of upgrade that can be applied to armor and weapon items. They boost the stats of whatever item they are attached to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged by using a professional or higher salvage kit to salvage upgrade components from items.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it will absorb. A piece of armor upgraded to the highest upgrade level will increase its ability to absorb damage. However, it's important to keep in mind that this will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than it was before.

There are a variety of armor upgrades that are available in the game. Each has a different effect. For instance, certain upgrades will grant the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others make it stronger and lighter. The type of armor upgrade that an item will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade as indicated in the table below.

Certain upgrades require magic or a combination of technology and magic, which are indicated by the "Magic" and "Hybrids" entries in the table below. Some upgrades also require charges for use. They are referred to as "Charges" entries in the table. These charges are either updated daily or never expire depending on the upgrade.

The cheapest method to upgrade armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting minor loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Certain upgrades, like the Reforge and the Hot Potato Books, can only be applied to high level armor pieces. These upgrades can give players a significant improvements in stats and are well worth the investment.

A piece of armor upgraded to max upgrade level will greatly increase its defense values but the wearer must be aware that putting more weight on it can drastically decrease its speed and agility. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The boost in defense usually isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of an weapon. Upgrades can increase the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Some weapons also have special upgrades that improve their innate qualities. They include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of overheating of the weapon) and Kinetic Coils (increases the speed of projectiles to cause more damage).

Most upgrades for weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade for applying. They can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain amount of bosses and monsters.

To upgrade an equipment set, weapon piece or Whetblade You must go to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine, and pay her an upgrade fee of a certain number of Bars. The more bars needed to complete an upgrade, the more expensive the upgrade. If you have multiple upgrade materials The cost of upgrading will be less.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets has changed a bit. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5, you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a certain number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level at which point the upgrades would reset.

You can still do this, but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and purchasing equipment that has low upgrade levels but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These will have a chance at gaining you the highest tier perks and blessings.

To improve their skills faster, most players will be more inclined to upgrade their weapons. Players should also upgrade the weapons that their teammates use to make them stronger. Shepard for instance, should upgrade the M92F in order to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more effective when used with biotic specialists like Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are utilized in the armor's sockets and weapons, enhancing the power of a character and bringing about secondary effects. Jewelry crafting is the process of making them, in which you combine a gemstone with a number specific reagents on a table. The higher the tier of the jewel is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses around the world, or through salvaging Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Prisms.

The quality of a jewel can be improved by the Jeweler in stages that vary from Crude to Royal. The stat boosts will vary according to the tier that the jewel is at when it's inserted into jewelry, weapons or equipment.

All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to qualify for these. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out with a identical jewel without destroying it. You can only replace the jewel once within an item of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth, and is often performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. Jewels also enhance performance and create a harder surface than steel, so that the repeated friction from pivots do not cause damage to the movement.

A Glyphmaster can provide glyphs that can enhance the appearance of your weapons and shields. These glyphs give a slight boost in power and can be exchanged, however they're not guaranteed to be available as loot. Glyphs, just like jewelry, can be upgraded at the Jeweler in exchange for gold and Scattered Crystals. Glyphs can also be removed and returned to the inventory. Other upgrade item components like aegis or traits cannot be swapped, and can only be found by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging with a Black Lion Salvage Kit or an Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are a great way to give your character many small, but beneficial benefits. They can be acquired starting in the starter areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, or by doing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers, and found or purchased from the Trading Post.

The first trinket that a player will unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. After that, they can purchase amulets, rings and necklaces in a similar way to how a player acquires weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot which can be universal or jewel. Universal upgrades are smaller and can be used on any device. Jewels are not upgradeable or replaced and only work with certain trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. This allows the hero to be more efficient when they are not active. It also helps compensate for the absence of strong slot in the talent tree or team which would normally be filled by the hero's best stats.

As a rule, trinket upgrades should prioritize BiS (Best item upgrader in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable stats that aren't as important as the iLevel of the item to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item has multiple stats you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade just one crucial stat than two subpar ones.

At the beginning of the game players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket to a red, while top and middle players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect the ability of a hero to control the map.

Aside from the things mentioned above, players may also find a number of other items in the form of trophies and awards. They can be earned through completing certain milestones in the story, such as finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a particular boss. These can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
