Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value particularly if your office or home has lots of unfinished floors and you want to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and operates when you're at work or in school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot vacuum best hoover for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different floors and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it was able to avoid fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot vacuum that mops that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that has a perfect 10 in our evaluations thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot cleaner mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house according to the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a bigger home, you should consider choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for greater efficiency. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It can also reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that intensely cleans a localized area.

It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
