They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums best vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time however, it wasn't reliable in our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on the amount of dirt they are.
If you have a larger home, you should consider choosing a model that has zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stair mode is also useful. For families that are busy, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very beneficial.

You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance. The app also provides access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
