This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
