The Best Robot Hoover

The best automatic vacuum and mop robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.

Be sure to regularly check your robot's brushes for tangled hair as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they employ smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots an abundance of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best rated robot vacuum robot hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mop. This helps prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the boxy models of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

As with other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features to help you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.

Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.

If you have a bigger home, you should consider selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you tell the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice command. If you have a lot of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as an emptying bin.
