The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans that avoid obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also come with carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as fluid navigation make it simple to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop utilizes advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be utilized to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In the course of testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot auto vacuum and mop/mop that could clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature that we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
This robot vacuums best vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot mop we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and refills the water tank, as well as washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the amount of dirt they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. If you have a lot of furniture, a stair-mode is also a good option. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off could be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might imagine from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying base that is washable.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. And you can set up a spot clean that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
