Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. It's also the only robot vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in mornings prior to work or during the night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum mop cleaner robot that is very efficient, but it will cost you more and make more noise.

It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt for better performance.
