World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

The upgrade option allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up to 700 points and add a final bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upgraded for their unique stats (like an ideally made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, including attack damage, crit chance and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons also come with a flat bonus that increases the damage they deal per second. In addition there are many weapons with a set bonus that activates when three or more of the same weapon is present on a single unit. In some instances, this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain on its own.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two standard Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue to increase until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons also change the stats of the base. This is usually a positive factor, but it could also have negative consequences. Upgrades can make items impossible to use, unless you are exceptionally lucky.

Armor items can be upgraded to improve their stats. This will increase the base defense of a helm or chest, while belts and gloves will increase their required strength and agility. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it may reduce its value.

The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats it will gain upon upgrading along with the values of these stats. This means that a change from a sword with 8 damage to an 11-attack-damage sword would result in the weapon gaining 33% attack damage. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will strike for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button with arrows that circle in the item upgrader kit menu. This will roll the item upgrader kit and alter its stats however, it will not reset the weapon's levels or tie it to the account status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference in your ability to survive. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE increases in poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has, the more value you get out of each point of health you possess therefore it is important to improve your armor as often as you can.

You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four Great Fairy Fountains available in the game and to unlock each fountain, you have to complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the primary side quest and mastered the fountain in question, you can then talk to any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrade menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each level will differ. In general, you'll need at anywhere between three Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and ten Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent upgrade. For instance the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, allowing you to keep up with a good-sized group of adversaries in most cold climates, and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, granting you enough protection to withstand an entire raid with a handful of friends.

It's important to note that armor cannot be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll have to focus on enhancing it to increase physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power if you're Mage. You should also save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor you'll still be wearing by the end of the story, such as the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant Mask.

You can also gain perks for your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the armor on your chest and helmets to let you get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are bottled substances that, when consumed provide the user with a temporary status effect. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to enhance their level of effectiveness. In addition the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP. These can be earned by making them on a table or in an Alchemist's chest. The upgrade price varies depending on the type of potion and the item upgrades's rarity and Mark Level.

To upgrade a potion you need to right-click it in your inventory. Then, select "Upgrade" from the menu. This will open an GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they will yield when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP total.

Once a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade until you take it out again or break the bottle within which it is kept. You can also rename the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.

There were a few changes to the mechanics of potion in version 1.7.2. For example the splash potions now have an average duration of 0.08 seconds (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item). The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. It is now able to be used in both Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions aren't compatible with cauldrons, as is the case with Java Edition. Similarly, using a potion in a cauldron that is full drains the contents and replenishes the bottle.

There are also simmering potions made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potions is rearranged to look more like the Java Edition. New potions are also added, for instance, the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.

Trinkets

A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It can also refer to an ornament or object that serves a function but is not important as a Thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to signify friendship or affection, especially between family members.

In addition to armor, weapons and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets like other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing statistics.

The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

The upgrade of a trinket can be a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. A player can upgrade a trinket for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl as old one, and will include an additional 1% upgrade bonus.

Once the old Trinkets are no longer usable they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value with time. They can be traded between players and are a viable alternative to gold.

In general players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the Best item upgrader-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other pieces of gear that will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). When deciding on the items to upgrade, players should consider the class's preferred stats. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.

Once they have become useless trinkets are able to be upgraded to a higher level. The new trinket comes with an additional bonus of 1. However, a re-upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed, unless it is salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an alternative salvage tool that is higher-end. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than purchasing new ones.
