However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the competition. It is one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuums with mop we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not 100% foolproof during our tests and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home in accordance with how dirty they are.

If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you might imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots that vacuum and mop we've tried. It's self-sufficient too, with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms for better performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans an area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that does not double as a bin to empty.
