They also feature carpet boost, a feature that boosts the robot's performance when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our top option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's therefore prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. 2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer better cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to other models.

It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something hasn't been seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy models from the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also its smartest. It features advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and look better. This is a two-in-one automatic vacuum and mop that's very capable however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum mop cleaner robot's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot uses an array of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than some of its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.
