However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to get caught up in shoes and socks and can't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. It also comes with a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can change its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an exemplary 10/10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum best vacuum and mop with many advanced features that let you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming.
