Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept at cleaning pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save some money. It's also quiet and works while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted area which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with various flooring types, such as certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top-notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most appealing looking in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has an exemplary 10/10 in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you're trying to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are equally powerful and more attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it will cost you more and produce more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum reviews vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the automatic vacuum and mop's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to accomplish the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.

The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate the mapping process, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic vacuum cleaner and mop spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance.
