It's also prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

It's still a good deal, especially if your office or home has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum cleaners reviews we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
