The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests of floors with no carpet, and they are particularly adept in removing hair from dogs. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also quiet and operates when you're at work or at school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time to ensure more efficient cleaning. 3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most appealing looking in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit.
