1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have test. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other top iRobot models (including the top-rated model) they employ smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans that avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't come with cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can work while you're at work, or at school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective in mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to a dry one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also features strong suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

You can change its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did an excellent job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular look that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It comes with advanced features, like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaner reviews in our tests that can completely self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of features that are advanced and will help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its top rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection but this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
The vacuum cleaner comes with an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the house based on how dirty these areas tend to be.
For bigger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot vacuums uk to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that is cleaner than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot cleaning that intensely cleans a localized area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It's good at vacuuming but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit louder than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
