The best robot hoover (just click for source)

The best automatic vacuum robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as a dirt detector) are a plus.

Check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Some models also self-empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They have motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws, however, that prevent them from being our top option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.

It's still a good deal particularly if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to, you can swap the mopping pad for a dry one in just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can mop floors. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.

You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a great job of cleaning a mix of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular look that looks more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models from the competition. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart best rated robot vacuum makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they are.

For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home by using the app or voice controls. If you have lots of furniture, a stair-mode is also useful. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan and any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has strong 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
