The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and clean them as needed. Some models also self-empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They are equipped with motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it spots the presence of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which hinder them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a good value for those whose home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also quiet and can be used while you're at work or at school. The only thing it doesn't have that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you need to, you can switch the mopping pad for a dry one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoovers hoover for carpets, but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it also learns the layout of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum uk vacuum/mop which could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky models of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot hoover vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an easy mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a concern in the mornings before work, or at night when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing with a little more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should please almost everyone.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also has an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the home based on how dirty these areas are.

If you own a larger home, it is worth selecting a robot that comes with the option of cleaning zones or spots. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your house needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have large furniture. For families with busy schedules recharge functions and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off could be extremely useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more advanced than its price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying washable base.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and underneath furniture more easily. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It's good at vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
