So You ve Bought Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less useful for those with lower requirements because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade item their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every couple of weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment from other sources. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used for weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for various currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays an item's preview when it is upgraded in the event that the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item upgrades slot and current item level upgrade (watch this video) level and the weapon's price is higher than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player has upgraded to a certain level of item upgrader kit for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if the items are from another set of equipment.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players achieve certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for equipment that is of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the process of upgrading. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest level possible on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another important change is that crests only have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality gear.
