It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It doesn't also have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our evaluations, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with a simple mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only drawback is that it's still quite a noisy unit, which can be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.

It also mopses using a single pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan an area for cleaning or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to improve performance.
