1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can pull up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. They also feature a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of an area.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you want to change the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to remove and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete the entire house with only 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks like a regular Roomba rather than the compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive designs in our tests. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including enhanced dirt detection technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud, which can be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some extra cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.

Finally a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum with mop vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than the price suggests. It is a great job vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot app is designed to help you navigate the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to be stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums that we've examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
