Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as crit chance and PvE damage.

If the template for upgrading a weapon is in %, the weapon will gain 3% of its previous damage for every time it's upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item level rises.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors, trading with other players, or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to devices that have slots. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the back items that are not ascending. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's applied to (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players create stronger versions of that equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades are available for purchase them in the cash shop or by obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.

The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-level version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will increase after a future reset.

The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete, or even break, when the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powders are also destroyed if the upgrade fails. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chances of failure, as well as a few upgrades that give the benefit of being reinserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes in their radius, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs are upgraded in many ways. We suggest upgrading them as soon as possible up to 15 levels.

You will often find in the endgame that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded to level 15 and give an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without any restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Each Glyph has a specific range of values can enhance a stat by, and the value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a different Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the Glyph.

Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of a Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus which will boost a specific set of stat nodes within a radius around the Glyph. It can be +40 for one of your primary stats or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.

Glyphs increase the number of nodes connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in key places on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage points, however, you may also want to be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the effectiveness of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level which determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.

Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed results in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and once enough are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When an individual player upgrades a piece of equipment, the base item will be replaced by a new item. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback since the item may be more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll the upgrade of their item. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of extra bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, but it shouldn't be done regularly, as it can waste lots of resources.

Certain upgrades can increase their value and allow players to modify their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it gives a buff if the player continuously enters or exits water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the max roll by a factor of 10. This item is extremely valuable in PvP. A properly rolled version could be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded counterpart.

Requirements

Item upgrading allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets over ilvl 385 by offering the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set and upgrades to weapon items increase the damage they deal and also increase their strength and dexterity.

Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception of hero gear, which can have eight upgrades. Every each time you upgrade an item, it has a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the more you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures can cause the item to return to its original condition which means that the player has to purchase more items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum amount.

If an item upgrades is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. In addition the Item upgrader Mod will be deducted any bonuses it gained such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). However, the player may still continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.

When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. A new attribute called Slots has been added to the definition of the item and the value is recomputed every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For instance an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25,600 Technology Points and 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will have a much lower cost for each additional upgrade.

Premium items may have different upgrade requirements from standard gear. For example they might require fewer sowels, but more minerals and orons. Regardless, the player must visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they want to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade costs mentioned above, each upgrade requires a different amount of the upgrade ingredients.
