The Best Robot Hoover

The best robot hoover can autonomous vacuum and mop without needing your attention. It will leave your floors spotless. Its low cost and high-end features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.

Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot cleaner for hair that is tangled and large debris, and wash them when required. Some models will automatically empty their dust bin on board into a larger bin in the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 Pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Like other iRobots with premium features (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to produce precise floorplans that avoid obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also feature Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our floor tests that test for bare floors, and they're particularly adept in removing pet hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of a room.

However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. And it's less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with a wet one in minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, though it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensor technology that can stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a great cleaning job on a variety of rooms and floors with various kinds of flooring, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and it supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature we haven't seen on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba than the competition's compact models this robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to the combination of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot vacuum reviews we tested that could refill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work, or at night when you're trying to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries the mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.

For larger houses, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum cleaners reviews vacuum to pick up where it left off can be extremely useful.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad and a reciprocating motion which is cleaner than the majority mop cleaners for robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app also provides access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums that mop vacuums, meaning it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot clean that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's more appealing, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums that we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
