World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a method to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Upgrading equipment in The War Within requires a set number of Flightstones and Crests and each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item upgrading's basic stats increases when it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's upgraded perks (attack magic attack and defense). Upgrades to items can be costly, depending on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to the number of perks that have to be modified to upgrade an item level upgrade.

It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used to limit how much PvP gear players can use as PvP is restricted at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment players can look at the item level upgrade level. It's a good indicator of an item's quality and the amount of damage it is capable of dealing with. Comparing items from a vendor's stock can be done by using the level of the item.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel into chat.

There are a variety of theories on how the item level is determined. One theory is that the level is a number that comes from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value, and also that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.

It's not the only factor that affects the value of an item. The location of where the item was dropped may alter its stats. For example it can add a level to the item's haste or crit rating. This means that items that drop at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.

Item Stats

The item's stats can determine the fate of an item for players. The game makes use of them in many ways to encourage players not to limit themselves to one weapon and to encourage players to explore other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn boosted by the player's level.

The upgrades to an item can boost its stats. The upgrade costs are determined by the rarity of the item. An item that is white or grey for instance, can only be upgraded once and items with rare tiers can be upgraded multiple times at more expensive costs.

Another way to change the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all sizes and shapes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, add a special capability to the item (such as reviving dead or decreasing cooldowns), or make the Best item upgrader unique by giving an additional name to the item.

All affixes can be currently re-rolled by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This will cost a certain amount in gold and items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges just like the other methods of rerolling.

In addition to the possibility of rerolling affixes, players may also choose which of the available stats to be kept on an Item upgrader Kit when it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat within that range unless they are a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by adding the option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes or choosing which stats to increase. Similar to the base equipment, this must be done per item and the item comparison interface would not display all the possible stats at once.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the likelihood of item discoveries as well as the properties that appear on loot drops, and the intensity of those properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It simply gives the player a possibility to obtain better equipment in earlier waves and is thus more useful in early game runs as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over raw damage gains.

Luck can also boost the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability that increases with each level of the item and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor, and weapons have a default Luck value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on their material type) to add another 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Moreover, certain items, like the Hollow weapon, which is infused with Hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage of any damage-dealing skill by five percent. These items can be purchased from the shop or made using the correct ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it does not work.

When you upgrade an item the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to the extent to which the success rates can be improved and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The Luck of an item may affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has a base success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by an additional 5percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This may block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
