1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They have motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other top iRobot models (including the top choice) they utilize smart mapping technology to design precise floor plans and eliminate common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have a feature called Carpet Boost that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests They're also particularly adept in removing pet hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our first option. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
Still, it's very good for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and can be used when you're at work or going to school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and quick navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying dustbin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performing mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it also learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It has a battery lifespan that is similar to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a carpeted room which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach under low-lying furnishings and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It has advanced features such as enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with an easy mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally powerful and better-looking. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some extra cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. Like Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its more expensive competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home depending on how dirty they tend to be.
If you have a larger home, it's worth choosing a model that has the option of cleaning zones or spots. This allows you to inform the robot of which area of your home must be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than the price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuum cleaners uk vacuums, which means it is able to reach corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. And you can set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
