1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They have motors that are top of the line and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top pick) they utilize smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid home-based obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. There are some issues however, which prevent them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology which means it's susceptible to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a good deal, especially if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. Plus, it's very quiet and can work while you're at work, or school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with various flooring types, such as certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a built-in dust bin that automatically fills up its base, and also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most of the robot mop cleaners that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.
