10 Things People Hate About Item Upgrade
WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an Item level Upgrade by 3. A random substat is also increased with every upgrade.
The more modernized gear generally has a greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll an exact version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader mod upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which displays a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a certain level of item for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item upgrader kit level, will cost less. This is even if those items come from another set of equipment.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available once certain milestones are reached.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complex upgrade could require as much as 20 crests, based on the type or equipment being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities for gear of lower tiers, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken to upgrade the item in the proper steps and paths.
Using these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade item process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it no longer requires Flightstones. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment you have, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character that will be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
