3. IRobot Roomba X40
This robot vacuum and mop combination has a sleek, circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the bulky units of the competition. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's also the sole robot vacuum or mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models, the X40 is easy to use, offering a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only issue is that it's still quite loud that could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you attempt to sleep.
It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's going to cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best automatic vacuum cleaner robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra.
