The best robot vacuum can vacuum and mop your floors without your involvement. It also leaves them spotless. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as a dirt detectors) are positives.

Both the Q5 as well as the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective in removing pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.
Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on very well and can't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 comes with a self-emptying cradle, however. If you're required to mop, the mopping pad can be changed for a wet one in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. Its quick navigation and smart cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot cleaner robot hoover for carpets, but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

Its obstacle detection was top-of-the-line, and it nimbly avoided fake dog socks, turds, shoes and cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combination.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that appears more like a normal Roomba rather than the compact models, this mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads in a self-cleaning manner).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that has 100% in our testing thanks to a blend of high-tech sensors, including a camera, structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
As with other iRobot models as well, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit as well as Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. If you're willing to live with a little more noise and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically emptys the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and washes and dry mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floorplans and identify obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home according to how dirty they tend to be.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for models with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home by using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you have a large furniture. Also, a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd expect from its price tag. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also create a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that is less intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
