It leaves your floors spotless. Its price is surprisingly low and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes frequently for tangled debris and hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger one at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. And, like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. The robots also come with the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors, and they are particularly adept at cleaning hair from dogs. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very efficiently in our tests. Also, it doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has an impressive suction system and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum with mop hoover for carpets, but it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop utilizes sensors that help it stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the layout of your home over time and offer cleaner and more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. Its battery life is average in comparison to similar models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a carpeted room, which helps prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could sweep the entire house, with 66 per cent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a variety of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rug. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum reviews vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky units of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop that scored 100% in our evaluations due to a mix of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully self-refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
As with other iRobot models like the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a concern in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are equally capable and more attractive. If you're willing to put up some more volume and some additional cost, this is a very capable two-in-one that should delight most.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features to help you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot vacuum cleaner uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floor plans and detect obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its premium competitors. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time but this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to do the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vac works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they tend to be.
For larger houses, it's worth opting for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice controls. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price would suggest. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating movement that cleans better that most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritize your most filthy rooms to improve performance. The app also gives access to a host of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD offers a sleeker and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but is more prone to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic hoovers vacuums we've tried. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
