Both the Q5 and Q7 Max Series get very excellent scores in our bare floor tests and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera that would let it see the corners of an area.

If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in just a few minutes.

3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba rather than the boxes This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robotic vacuum or mop that scored an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully autonomously refill and empty its base station and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It comes with an easy mobile app interface that is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite loud which could be a problem if you run it in the morning before work or at night as you try to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally capable and better looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it's more expensive and make more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take care of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and could be confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the degree of dirt they tend to be.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your house needs to be cleaned with the help of an app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.

The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you'd think from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop, Read Far more, cleaners we've examined. It's also self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through an initial mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to create the spot-cleaning. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app also gives access to many options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
