Top Rated Robot Vacuums
A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you have to manually vacuum. Find one that has good navigation, can sweep corners and stairs and also has a large dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.
There are models that mop and charge on their own, a feature that may be essential for those who have pets or kids. A majority of the top performers in our tests have great ability to overcome obstacles.
1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are both identical robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. The i3+ is an excellent option for those who want an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but want to manually empty the dustbin of the robot once it gets full.
Both robots are adept in removing dirt and dust particles on carpets and hard floors, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we test. It may be stuck on power cords and socks, and may have trouble navigating between different surfaces, like rug and hardwood.
iRobot suggests that you clean up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it may encounter. It's also a good idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they do not become blocked by dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station’s external dustbin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and takes around three hours to recharge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most important feature is the self-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.
The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or by voice.
The i7+ is quicker and more agile in our tests than the eufy RoboVac G30. It also cleaned large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy, is its self-emptying dustbin, which eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.
We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting we were able to give the i7+ voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and evaluating the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is a sports car in a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It has the power and features to replace a stand-up vacuum for many households, but it also fits perfectly next to a coffee table or on shelves that you can spin around like a magic wand.
The V10 is powered by a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy that can provide power without fading for 60 minutes. Its advanced whole-machine filtration system captures allergens and expels clean air back into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It has three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It is able to swiftly switch from floor robot vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.
This model has a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100% in 3.5 hours. It also gives easy access to 2 attachments as well as a Wand. This is a big improvement over older Dysons models, which take a long time to charge and are difficult to store.
The V10's biggest drawback is its sluggish run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a common, not exceptional, battery-powered cordless vacuum's run time. This is enough time to clean a typical-sized home but not enough to reach every spot. (A second pass is usually sufficient). This model has its own advantages however: it's light and more maneuverable than earlier Dysons cordless models and its ability to vacuum is noticeably superior for carpet floors with low pile.
4. iRobot Roomba 694"
The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have lots of money to invest in the latest model of robot vacuum hoover. It's capable of sucking up most kinds of debris in our tests, and often goes over the same areas several times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it reach into corners and along the walls' edges and walls, which is a nice addition.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top selections, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. As a result, it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords or furniture that isn't in good condition, and frequently runs out of battery power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in all aspects in that it has fewer parts that require regular maintenance It also comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and does a better job moving itself. It also has a bigger dustbin and is charged faster.
The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 for most purposes, because it has a better battery life, has the ability to alter the suction power mode by hand, comes with physical boundary strips, and is operated by your phone's voice assistant. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and is more effective on low-pile and bare floors.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and it cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It was not as successful in avoiding taller items such as cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a little more expensive than the other models we tested and could be a problem for some buyers.
